What X-ray damage actually looks like
X-ray damage doesn’t always ruin your film in obvious ways.
Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s not.
Here’s what it can look like:
a soft haze over the entire image
strange purple or magenta fogging
reduced contrast (especially in shadows)
random streaks or banding across frames
in severe cases, completely unusable rolls
It often doesn’t show up evenly either — one roll might be fine, the next one gets partially affected depending on how many scans it’s been through.
